The Beginning
Before becoming C.L.A.Y. Ministries most of us were just faithful participants to the our AY Friday night meetings. We mainly helped in the drama plays that were being done. Usually it was the same individuals that would participate in the plays. So much so, that un-officially we started to come together for drama rehearsals. But it wasn't until after a youth camp meeting at Camp Kulakua that we took it seriously under the name of C.L.A.Y. Ministries (June 5, 1999).
The Name
The name came to be one Sabbath afternoon at drama rehearsals. We all sat together and started coming with various names for our new ministry. Names came and went. But wanted a name that stood for who we were. And then one person said, "Well we are youth". Another said, "Adventist", "acting", and "we are trying to be Christ Like". And there it began. Then we just organized the first letters of each word and we came up with C.L.A.Y. But instead of using "Adventist" for the "A", we chose "acting". We then searched the word "clay" in the Bible and we found out that in Isaiah 64:8 it says, "But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand."
The Mission
What started just as a way of helping out in our AY meetings, is now a full grown Youth Ministry. We currently not only perform in regular church activities. But also in youth camp meetings, AY meetings and special crusades. And although we've had some different faces in our drama team. Our purpose remains the same, "Serve God above anyone else, and show other young people out there, that they too have a part in God's cause".
Currrently our ministry is formed by three main youth teams; drama, choreographed poetry and music.
Since God has blessed us so greatly, we try to inspire other youth to start their own ministry. We've been given the opportunity to preach, hold drama/ministry related workshops, concerts, feeding and performing for the homeless and a lot more.
